“Fear not, Mary, for you have found favor with God.” — Luke 1:30
Some days fear shows up before my feet even hit the floor. It’s not always loud. Sometimes it’s quiet anxiety—worry about the future, stress about responsibilities, or that heavy “what if?” feeling that tries to camp out in my mind.
That’s why this verse hits me today.
The angel didn’t start with a long speech. He didn’t begin by listing everything Mary had to do. He started with something simple but powerful: “Fear not.” And then he followed it with the reason: “You have found favor with God.”
That tells me something important: God doesn’t wait until we “have it all together” to show up. Mary wasn’t walking around with a perfect plan. She was human. She had questions. She was about to step into something that would change her life forever. And God met her right there—before the details were even explained.
Sometimes I want God to give me the full roadmap first. I want every answer up front. But God often gives me something better than a roadmap—He gives me His presence.
Favor doesn’t mean life will be easy. It means I’m not alone in it. It means God sees me, knows me, and is involved in my life even when I feel unsure.
So today, I’m taking this verse personally. When fear tries to take over, I’m reminding myself:
God is already in my situation. God is already working behind the scenes. God’s favor is bigger than my fear.
Prayer:
Lord, when fear starts creeping in, help me remember that You are with me. Calm my mind, steady my heart, and remind me that Your favor and Your presence are stronger than anything I’m facing today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
