Trusting God and Living by His Word (Even When I Fall Short)

Trust isn’t perfection—trust is choosing God again and again.

Trusting God isn’t just something I say when life is going good.

Trusting God is what I’m learning to do when I’m stressed, confused, tempted, tired, or disappointed. It’s what I’m learning to do when I don’t have all the answers, and I can’t see what’s coming next.

Because the truth is, I’ve learned the hard way that my way isn’t always the best way. And that’s why God’s Word matters so much to me.

Trusting God Is More Than a Feeling

A lot of people treat trust like a mood—like it comes and goes depending on how they feel that day.

But real trust is a choice.

It’s choosing to believe that God is still good when things are shaky.
It’s choosing to believe He’s still working when I can’t see results yet.
It’s choosing to follow Him even when it would be easier to do what I want.

Trust isn’t always loud. Sometimes trust is quiet obedience.

God’s Teachings Give Me Direction

The Bible isn’t just a book of “rules.” To me, it’s guidance.

It’s correction when I’m drifting.
It’s comfort when I’m hurting.
It’s truth when my mind is loud.
It’s strength when I feel weak.

God’s Word keeps me grounded when life tries to pull me in ten different directions. And honestly, I need that.

Because without a foundation, it’s easy to get swept away by emotions, impulses, and bad habits.

Why Living by the Bible Matters to Me

Living by God’s Word matters to me for a simple reason: I want my life to mean something.

I don’t want to just exist. I don’t want to keep repeating the same cycles. I don’t want to keep making choices that lead to regret and damage.

God’s Word gives me a better way to live:

  • It teaches me to forgive, not stay bitter.
  • It teaches me to be humble, not prideful.
  • It teaches me to be honest, not deceptive.
  • It teaches me to love, even when it’s hard.
  • It teaches me to keep going, even when I’ve messed up.

And the older I get, the more I realize that “doing whatever I feel like” is not freedom. That’s bondage.

Real freedom is living the way God designed us to live.

I Fail a Lot… But I Still Try

I’m not writing this like I’ve got it all figured out. I don’t.

I fail. I mess up. I fall short. I have days where my attitude isn’t right, my patience is thin, and my mind is all over the place. Sometimes I know what the Bible says… and I still struggle to do it.

But here’s what I’m learning:

Failing doesn’t mean you’re fake.
Failing means you’re human.

The problem isn’t failing. The problem is quitting.

When I fall short, I try to do what God teaches:

  • Admit it
  • Repent
  • Get back up
  • Keep walking

Because God isn’t asking me to be perfect—He’s asking me to be faithful.

Trust Looks Like “Keep Going”

To me, trusting God looks like showing up again and again.

It looks like praying even when I feel dry.
It looks like reading the Bible even when I don’t feel like it.
It looks like doing the next right thing even when nobody sees it.
It looks like trying again after a bad day.

Trust is built through consistency. And I want my life to be consistent with God’s truth—not just my emotions.

Final Thoughts

If you’re trying to trust God and live by the Bible, but you feel like you’re failing… you’re not alone. Keep going.

The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is direction. And if your heart is pointed toward God, even with stumbles along the way, you’re still moving in the right direction.

I’m still learning. I’m still growing. And I’m still choosing God’s Word—one day at a time.
