Verse of the Day: “Be Strong and Courageous” (Joshua 1:9)

Scripture (Joshua 1:9):

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Some days don’t feel like a “fresh start.” They feel like a fight just to get moving. A fight to face the day, face people, face responsibilities, and face your own thoughts.

That’s why Joshua 1:9 hits so hard.

God doesn’t tell Joshua to feel brave. He commands him to be brave—because courage isn’t always a feeling. A lot of times, courage is a choice you make while your hands are still shaking.

“Do not be afraid” doesn’t mean you won’t feel fear. It means fear doesn’t get to be the boss of you.

And “do not be discouraged” is huge too—because discouragement is sneaky. It shows up when you’ve been doing the right thing for a while, but life still feels heavy. It whispers, “What’s the point?” But this verse answers that question clearly:

God is with you wherever you go.

Not just on your best days. Not just when you’re winning. Not just when you’re feeling “spiritual.”

Wherever you go means: the messy days, the lonely days, the days you’re rebuilding, the days you’re trying again.

So today, if you’re standing in front of something that feels too big—remember this: you don’t have to be fearless. You just have to take the next step, and trust that you’re not taking it alone.

Prayer (simple):

Lord, give me strength for what’s in front of me today. Help me move forward even when I feel afraid. Thank You for being with me wherever I go. Amen.
