“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:57
Some days, the word victory feels far away. We wake up tired, worn out, or already stressed before our feet even hit the floor. Old habits tug at us. Anxiety, depression, anger, or cravings try to pull us back into who we used to be. On those days, this verse isn’t just a nice church saying—it’s a lifeline.
God doesn’t say, “Fix yourself and then I’ll help you.” He says the victory is already given through Jesus. That means I don’t have to fight my battles alone or win them in my own strength. My job is to show up, be honest, and keep turning my heart toward Him—again and again. His job is to give the victory, even if right now it feels like I’m still in the middle of the fight.
Victory doesn’t always look like fireworks. Sometimes it looks like getting out of bed when you didn’t want to. Going to therapy instead of isolating. Reaching out instead of picking up a drink. Whispering, “God, help me,” when your thoughts are loud and ugly. Every time we choose Him over our old ways, that’s a quiet, powerful win.
Today, hold on to this verse. You might not feel victorious, but in Christ, you’re not fighting for victory—you’re fighting from it. The battle is real, but so is the One who already overcame it.
Thanks be to God—He gives us the victory.
