Today was a good day. Not because something huge happened, but because of the little things that remind me how far I’ve come. The local high school held its Pancake Day, and I got to be part of it — laughing, talking, enjoying the moment. Later, I had visitation with my daughter, which always fills my heart more than words can explain. And for now, I’ll be winding down with some games on TV.
It may not sound like much to some people, but for me, it’s everything. There was a time in my life when peace felt like something other people got to have — not me. My days used to be filled with chaos, regret, and pain. But today, I wake up with gratitude. I see the beauty in small victories — the kind that recovery teaches you to recognize.
In my journey, I’ve learned that God’s presence isn’t always found in the dramatic moments. Sometimes, it’s in the quiet, the laughter over breakfast, or a simple hug from your child. Those are the moments when His grace shines the brightest.
Recovery isn’t about becoming perfect. It’s about learning to appreciate life again, one peaceful day at a time. It’s about showing up, staying present, and allowing yourself to be thankful for the blessings right in front of you.
So, if you’re in a season where life feels heavy, hold on. There will come a day when you smile for no reason other than knowing you made it through. The storms don’t last forever — and when they pass, the calm is worth every struggle.
Today reminded me of that.
And maybe, it can remind you too.
Stay faithful. Stay strong. Stay grateful.
You’re not alone.
